All of their products—two types of each gin and rye whiskey, vodka, bourbon, amaro, and nocino—are intrinsically tied to bees, sustainability, and the environment, with over 300 beehives at the distillery and infusions of wildflower honey, honeyed barrels, and pollinator-friendly botanicals playing a part throughout their recipes.

“Undoubtedly, the gayest thing on the menu at the Ruby Fruit is the hot dog — the irony of which is not lost on us. We list it with our desserts and it’s a pretty popular menu item: A guest asks us or shares something that’s been going on for them in the love department and then we give them our best love advice.
The group has 13 active chapters across the U.S. that Alpern said are guided by the importance of connecting with local queer communities and the collective power of those communities, as Queer Soup Nights raise money for local nonprofit organizations.
“In my heart, for me, queer food is food eaten and enjoyed and produced in queer community,” she said.
