Pride has been celebrated in Portland since the early 1970s, with the first outdoor celebration in 1976.
The ever-increasing use of violence against our citizens, many of whom are part of the LGBTQ+ community, is both frightening and unacceptable. We have signed onto the Stop Cop Riot letter to Mayor Wheeler.
Portland Pride Waterfront Festival
Join us for the annual Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade, one of the largest donation-based LGBTQIA2S+ Pride events on the west coast, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to Portland each year. LGBTQIA2S+ people travel from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond to express their individuality and celebrate community in a safe, open environment.
Join us on June 7th as the Portland Sea Dogs take on the Hartford Yard Goats, and we all celebrate Pride! is committed to accessibility for all attendees, with ASL interpreters provided for both the parade and festival entertainment, as well as a designated sensory tent for those who may benefit from a quiet, low-stimulation space.
While Pride Northwest remains committed to an engagement that ends the violence, we are compelled to take additional action now.
As we have said in the past, the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those of us who are not Black, Indigenous, or people of color, are at a crossroads. Its roots stretch back to the burgeoning LGBTQIA+ rights movement of the early 1970s.
But as a community, we can come together and transcend hatred, stereotypes, our differences, and whatever burdens we each carry.

While there have been glimpses of hope in those conversations, current events and our own experiences tell us that it is not nearly enough. We can either continue to ignore the responsibility we carry and the work we still need to do for a better future, or we can stop dead in our tracks and acknowledge the truth of our history and its resulting inequities.
Attracting thousands of visitors each year, Portland Pride is a testament to the city's commitment to diversity and a cornerstone of the West Coast's queer landscape. the PPD and Multnomah County Sheriff's Department, to cease cooperation with federal agents.
Pride Northwest Announces Policy Change Regarding Law Enforcement Participation
in the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade

Over the last few months, Pride Northwest has acted in a number of ways, responding to both the COVID-19 pandemic and the violence perpetrated against Black people across this country.
While June is recognized as Pride Month globally, Portland Pride's main celebration weekend takes place in July to avoid conflicts with other major city events.
- Main Celebration Weekend: Saturday, July 19th & Sunday, July 20th, 2025
The highlight for many is the iconic Portland Pride Parade:
- Date: Sunday, July 20th, 2025
- Time: The parade officially kicks off at 11:00 AM.
- Route: The procession begins at the North Park Blocks, winds through downtown, and culminates on Naito Parkway at the entrance to the Waterfront Festival.
Over the decades, Portland Pride has continuously evolved and expanded, embracing all identities within the broader LGBTQIA2S+ community. Utilize public transit (TriMet's buses and MAX light rail) which is excellent, or consider rideshares well in advance.
