Al gore is gay

The whole history of the United States is an expanding circle of human dignity--a growing understanding of who we are as human beings, an appreciation of the diversity of the human family. Local adoption officials can evaluate the circumstances of the child and the parenting ability of prospective parents and decide if there's a good match. I believe in local control of governments.

When Jeffrey B. Trammell, William & Mary alumnus ('73), was appointed National Chair of Business Outreach for the Gore/Lieberman campaign, he used his position to garner national attention for an issue that had long been ignored: equal rights for gays and lesbians in the United States.

 

 

As a prominent member of the Gore campaign, Trammell worked to bridge the gap between politics and the gay and lesbian community.

Twelve years ago I called for a Manhattan Project on AIDS. "What can you say to make us believe that you will help the gay community?"

"I'm here to learn," Gore responded, unruffled. Affirmative action isn’t quotas. Our founders created a work of genius in the Constitution, but didn’t absorb the meaning deeply enough to give women the right to vote.

I will advocate for the Disability and Civil Rights section of the Justice Department to increase enforcement of the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. No citizen needs to be denied access to every day activities. Again, I support protection for domestic partnership. [However], If I am entrusted with the presidency, I will make appointments and nominations that fully reflect the diversity of our country to the Supreme Court as well as to the Cabinet, and that includes Latinos, yes.

First civil rights act will ban racial profiling

Q: Do you support a federal law banning racial profiling by police?

GORE: Racial profiling is a serious problem. For me, the campaign trail ended at the gay and lesbian center, where Gore answered my questions for close to half an hour, interrupted occasionally by aides.

After Gore's stopover, such visits with gay teens may become the modern equivalent of politicians' kissing babies.

Some of the smartest entrepreneurs in America today are women striking out on their own and realizing their goals on their own terms. “We fought for the black farmer. One day he says he agrees with me, then he says he doesn’t. Have you debated Mrs. Gore and your children around the dinner table?

[Smiles] I'm not going to violate the privacy of my family by disclosing their positions.

What about the California ballot measure?

As a Vietnam veteran who served on the Senate Armed Services Committee, he is likely to command more respect from the Pentagon as commander in chief than Clinton.

It came one week after his Democratic rival Bill Bradley, the former senator from New Jersey, also staged a friendly visit.

Gore, the Democratic front-runner, listened as the teenagers talked about family rejection, school harassment, and their hopes for a better life. Then Garcia issued an impromptu challenge.

"Why are you here?" he asked Gore.
